Counties Driving School provides tuition to meet the needs of students of all ages and experience. Students are encouraged to master and develop skills that will not only enable them to pass the required driving test but will ensure that they have the necessary skills to be safe and effective drivers, skills that could well save lives.
After a long career as an ambulance officer and paramedic both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, I am acutely aware of the many risks faced and taken by drivers daily.
Students of Counties Driving School are taught in a late model manual or automatic Toyota Yaris. These vehicles are ideally suited for tuition. With excellent all round visibility and positive handling, students soon become relaxed and confident. The vehicle is fitted with dual controls for safety and comes with the highest five-star European occupant safety ratings. Students can also be taught in their own or family vehicle provided it has a current Warrant of Fitness certificate, appropriate insurance cover and the registered owner gives written permission.
As a professional driving instructor registered with the New Zealand Transport Agency and a member of both the New Zealand Institute of Driving Educators and Institute of Advanced Motorists I am bound by the high standards set by these organisations. Regular ongoing professional development ensures that my teaching skills, techniques and knowledge are current New Zealand Transport Agency and industry best practice.
I am a registered Motor Industry Training Organisation (MITO) Assessor and have extensive experience in passenger service vehicle driver training and regularly instruct NZ Army personnel for both cars and truck training.
