Built around the work

A useful assessment starts with the business—not a generic checklist.

CDS can work with your organisation to understand the vehicles, routes, hazards and driving responsibilities involved in the role. Together, we establish what should be observed and how the findings need to be reported.

The standard assessment provides a strong starting point. Duration, assessment criteria and reporting can also be adapted where the operating environment requires something more specific.

Assessment options

Different vehicles require different skill sets.

Each pathway retains the same clear assessment process while focusing on the handling demands and risks relevant to that vehicle and role.

Class2

Medium rigid vehicles

Delivery, service and medium rigid operations

Vehicle dimensions, mirrors and blind spots, rear-wheel cut-in, tail swing, progressive braking, load effects, reversing and workplace access.

From $175 + GST60–75 minutes
Class4

Heavy rigid vehicles

Heavy and multi-axle rigid operations

Mass and momentum, stopping distance, off-tracking, clearance, braking systems where fitted, open-road management and controlled yard manoeuvring.

From $225 + GST75–90 minutes recommended
P

Passenger service vehicles

Passenger safety, comfort and professional operation

The relevant vehicle-class assessment with added focus on smoothness, passenger movement, stop selection, distraction management and employer procedures.

From $195 + GST60–90 minutes

Passenger service is assessed alongside the relevant vehicle class. Final duration and price depend on the vehicle, route, operating environment and agreed reporting requirements.

Useful evidence for the workplace

Clear findings. Practical next steps.

An occupational assessment should help the business make a sensible training decision. CDS records what was observed, explains the development priorities and identifies where further coaching may be useful.

The planned comprehensive occupational assessment form will expand the reporting available for tailored programmes.

CDS corporate and occupational assessments record driving behaviours observed during the agreed assessment. They are not NZTA licence tests, medical fitness-to-drive assessments, mechanical vehicle inspections or guarantees of future performance. Drivers must hold the appropriate licence and any required endorsement for the vehicle and service being assessed.
